Was asked a question I thought you might all like to know the answer to so posting my reply here too !Quite a fair question, I would need to write a book to go over the Minibull Project from day one, started so long ago after a great dog talk among a group of breeders all of whom love the shorter nosed breeds but despair of the health of most of them, but in short it has been a very long proses, it took us all ten years of breeding many crosses to get to where we have several lines of dogs we class as TOY BULLDOGS, the breeds used have been many, we wanted diversity and plenty of it, it is a lack of diversity that causes the familial problems found in breeders today, too much close or inbreeding, too much trying to get each dog to conform to an exact mould, too much using popular sires has so reduced the diversity in many breeds that it is impossible to fix some of them without bringing in totally fresh blood. In order to do this and not just bring in a heap of new problems we did massive amounts of DNA testing and x-rays and kept a very good eye on offspring too. While a lot of breeds feature in the making of a Toy, most are only used once to add genetic diversity then combed out again, the main breeds you see the influence of are Bulldogs, both English, French and Australian, and Boston Terriers, other breeds are used but influence not really seen in finished Toys, are Boxer, Cavalier, Neo, Pigdog, Staffy, and a few mixed breeds of outstanding health where lines (not breeds just lines) were known and could be tracked for many generations back .
