Was chatting with a farmer the other day who has a u-pick operation, and if you ever thought it was a good deal to charge people more for picking their own fruit and vegetables, think again! Im honestly surprised anyone does u-pick after the stories he told me. The general public actually does a lot of damage, and there is a lot of waste when clueless city slickers (and a few jerks) pick their own produce. He has to keep a lot of employees in the field to minimize losses.
