In the past, I would have taken these hurtful things to heart and added them to my self image and would have focused on the hurtful message and derailed on my journey. However, as I was reading the message, although it hurt me deeply, I realized I have no control over the actions of people in my family. I am not responsible for what others do or say. I am only responsible for me and how I live my life. I have taken steps to remove the negativity from my life and I refuse to let it back in.
