Was honored to give a speech at the Elk River Fourth of July celebration with Mattilan Winter Martin. To top it off, we got the opportunity to chat with an Omaha Beach veteran who was there on D-Day and came just to hear us speak. Very humbling and also brought our entire trip into perspective. We were joined for part of our speech by Tia Lerud who did a great job as well talking about the Salk D.C. trip. I was also very proud to have so many former students there including Matt Merkling who raised the flag for the event and Ryan Herrboldt who read the introduction to the Declaration of Independence. Oh, and Jenna Nielsen won the Elk River Idol singing contest. Mr. H. is a very proud teacher!!!
