Was it Ben Franklin who said: In this world nothing can be said to - TopicsExpress

Was it Ben Franklin who said: In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes. Id add one more certainty: when a bad thing happens, inevitably someone will be quoted in the press describing how I was going to be in that place where the bad thing happened, but at the last minute I (changed my flight) (got stuck in traffic) (decided to do something else). Now I realize God was saving me, and letting me know that He has a purpose for my life. These revelations always set my teeth on edge: why didnt God save the people who actually were in the place where the bad thing happened - He couldnt think of any purpose for their lives, other than for them to die unpleasantly?!?! But today Ill concede I can see a little bit of where that Oh, I think I may have just dodged a bullet feeling comes from, in that Michael wanted to go get his new watch fixed at the Columbia Mall, but I wanted to ease into the weekend with a Saturday matinee, so we were watching a DVD of Buckeroo Bonzai when my sister called to advise staying away from Columbia Mall. Saved by Buckeroo Bonzai doesnt sound as awesome as Saved by God. But then, Buckeroo Bonzai probably didnt save us from certain death (the mall is pretty big, and the shooting was confined to a little part of it), just from a lot of aggro trying to get out of the mall and back to our car and back home.
