Was just thinking about all we have been through with this boy and how this boy has changed so much of our lives.. Gunner is that dog that despite all logic and common sense DIR jumped into helping despite everything else... Gunner came in on a weekend... We were at an adoption event trying to raise money for a very negative vet bill and we had other hurt animals that were making the bills pile up... but you cant turn your back on the hurt and we were the last on a long list that had not said NO.. So we said yes... In the months that followed we begged for a foster to help and when no foster was found there was the huge relief when Dr. Todia let him stay at the vet.. I was frantic though when I was told he had to find a new foster or home and even more so when it was apparent there wasnt a spot for him... Time was already so short and the work never ends and this dog would require so much extra attention, extra care. Extra work, and how would it ever be possible to handle him along with all the rest... But looking at it now Gunner just kinda fell into place and into a routine... he can be a jerk sometimes towards other animals. He is more work. He needs special care and extra supplies, his own special place, hes the master of messes... but he is Gunner.. Hes the boy whos cold nose wakes me up every morning, he the boy who is always bubbly and hopping with excitement when you open the door. He is the one who fights so hard to.please you even if it means pushing his body to the limits. His strength is amazing only surpassed by hiI spirit and pesonality. He has taught us so much about looking at whats important. About life and living it with what youve got.. and about just being happy.. he is not more work but a reason to work harder...
