Was on radio 4 yesterday talking about Child Marriage and its effect on the Zambian children. The statistics are very alarming and we all have to do what we can to help reduce and eventually eradicate this practice. I was happy to learn that the Ministry of Chiefs and Traditional Affairs has launched a nation wide campaign to help stop this vice. Our Zambian children need to be protected at all costs. We cant allow a situation where 12/13/14year old children or just anyone below the age of 18 are being married off when they are supposed to be in school building a career that is more sustainable for themselves and their children. Some of the girls that are married off are not even physically ready to have children and this leads to many complications including death. So say NO to Child Marriage and report all cases were children are being married off below the age of 18. A girl child is not capital or sample for families so they shouldnt be used as a way for families to make money. The future of Zambia lies in how well we look after our children and how much investment we are able to make in them.
