Watch this.....especially my conservative and Republican friends who are pro - corporations and anti-welfare. Seriously, take a few minutes, open your mind, and absorb. Consider what is being said. As a nation we have to find a better way, and neither the far right or far left are providing realistic long term, balanced, or sustainable solutions. The answer is going to be found a bit in the right, a bit in the left, and a bit in between. We cannot continue this unlimited fiscal spending and debt dependence, we cannot balance the budget by turning our backs on people who are struggling or under-funding necessary agencies and programs, we cannot keep giving corporations and households so many tax breaks/deductions/subsidies and still expect the government agencies that we NEED (ie. Police, fire, military) to be properly funded and running efficiently. And we certainly need to take a second look at the benefits programs that our elected officials receive.... at all levels. For the politically, economically and literary minded, a suggestion for a major project....taking ALL of the different issues, concerns and needs of our country and people into account, create a detailed plan that provides for a more equal and sustainable tax treatment among corporations and households, sufficient but properly managed programs to assist those who truly need help to get them back on their feet but not enable generational welfare dependence, regulations that protect the environment while still encouraging progress, a government spending program and budget with guidelines that eliminate the insane amounts of waste that different agencies currently have, and VERY transparent fiscal reporting regulations for all agencies that allows the public to see where tax dollars are going while still balancing the need for national security.
