Watch video clips of slain militants’ funerals to assess situation: Geelani to PM Hurriyat Conference (G) chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani today asked Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to watch video clips of the funeral processions of the recently slain militants to have a feel of Kashmiris’ sentiment. Commenting on the proposed his visit to Kashmir, Geelani, in a statement today, said, “If he wants to have a reviewof the present situation in Kashmir, it is not possible to assess it in the closed door meetings with local administration. It is better for him to watch recent video clips of the funeral processions of the martyrs and decide himself without any prejudice what the people’s sentiments and aspirations are. It is for them to decide whether they are able to change the ground situation by conducting the elections with the help of their army or by unleashing thereign of terror or by constructing bridges and roads.” Paying glowing tributes to the youth who were slain in south Kashmir, Geelani said thousands attending their funerals was encouraging and their enthusiasm was commendable. “It is a befitting reply for those who claim that the people have disassociated themselves from ongoing freedom struggle,” Geelani said, urging the people to come forward and help the affected families whose houses were destroyed and gutted in gun battle in Pulwama. Geelani expressed his sympathies with the affected and bereaved families, saying “It is not possible for me to visit the houses of affected family because I am detained in my house.” Gelani reiterated his appeal to the people to set up Bait-ul-Mall Committees in every village for the poor and affected families.
