Watched CNN African Voices this morning. The current Miss Israel, a young girl from Ethiopia who went to Israel on invitation from her maternal grandparents after the death of her mother. There was no one to help her and her younger brother. She went to a school for immigrants and the very first friend she had inspired her into the army and thereafter bought her form for the pageant without her knowledge. Even when she wanted to give up in the middle of the competition, this very girl inspired her. May God give us friends who will see us, not as threats, but as partners who must succeed. Such friends are rare to find. The heart of man is deceitful and desperately wicked. Lord, give me the grace to remain loyal to my friends and be there for them in their downtimes. May I never be a fair weather friend. Make me a friend who people will always run to when every other person has left. May I be a shoulder and a strong pillar for my friends to lean on. Give me the grace to raise people who will eventually become greater than I am.
