Watched Deliver Us From Evil. Despite what the marketing team is - TopicsExpress

Watched Deliver Us From Evil. Despite what the marketing team is suggesting, this is not really a horror movie. Its really more like a typical cop thriller drama that has supernatural elements to it. The movie itself has a very dark and creepy undertone that is similar to the film Se7en, and there are jump scares and dreadful scenes that will fill the horror quota of the experience, in between all the police procedural stuff. Theres a lot in the plot that isnt explained or explored much at all; which many might find problematic, but this is really a movie completely about the character Eric Bana plays; NYPD officer Ralph Sarchie. This real life character is fascinating enough, that I definitely wouldnt mind seeing more movies based on his experiences. Speaking of real life, the exorcism depicted here is based on actual real life footage of an exorcism the filmmakers obtained from Sarchie. so... uhm... wow.. Who wants to watch that tape instead? I still did enjoy seeing Deliver Us From Evil, even if it failed in keeping me awake all night. Watch it for Ralph Sarchie and that riveting exorcism scene. There is one other scene that really caught my attention though, which was funnyman actor Joel McHale playing a knives wielding police officer having a knife fight duel with a demonic possessed man thats using a hammer as a weapon (definitely something I was pleasantly surprised to see).
