Watched the Wild Horse round up in Rock Point yesterday. It seems - TopicsExpress

Watched the Wild Horse round up in Rock Point yesterday. It seems like we, on the west mesa, are the main targets of the round up, since they started and stayed in our range area all day. They never bothered to go to other areas of the community! There are hundreds of horses in other areas, too! They ended up taking around 30 horses for the day, including gentle saddle horses from nearby homes, where they were grazing. This is a big open range area about 15 miles from the nearest highway, with plenty of grass and water at the windmills and multiple earthen dams. We watched (and maybe cheered) as some of the bigger, wilder herds escaped the 4x4s. The unpopular and uncalled-for activity ceased as the sun went down. The $3 million being spent on this activity could have been better spent elsewhere, such as the Senior Centers, who had their budgets cut, staff laid off, and had their work hours reduced. But, then again, this is no surprise coming from our current leaders.
