Watching JoJos Bizarre Adventure on CrunchyRoll. Its fricken awesome. I do have one minor complaint though. I can tell that whoever subbed this took some liberties with the script and is simplifying what is being said. The subtitles while accurate to the meaning/message arent very accurate to whats actually said. Im not fluid in Japanese. However, I have picked up quite a few words here and there along with some of the grammar and sentence structure... Enough to tell when wording is changed or things are left out. The subs so far are full of this. So far its nothing major but its irritating the hell out of me. For example one of the subs read Give it back. After some dudes took a girls doll. However I clearly heard Jonathan Jostar, the dude that said it, say ningyo which is Japanese for doll. From the context I am able to tell he actually yelled Give her doll back. There is another time where Dio said shinda iie nai in surprise after a dude he thought he killed gets back up. They translated it as hes alive when I know for a it means hes not dead. I know this because shinda is Japanese for dead and iie nai roughly translates to is/do/are not. I say roughly because Japanese grammar is a bit different. The subs are full of little alterations and simplifications like the ones I just mentioned. Other than that setting off my inner pedantism/grammar nazi the show is fantastic. The animation and acting are great. The characters are incredible. And Dio is deliciously evil. youtu.be/4to1-4vaTU0
