Watching Quadrophenia last night I had an impulsive wish that I could appear suddenly at the table in the cafe scene, unseen by all except Kevin (Ray Winstone) and Jimmy (Phil Daniels), like a sort of fairy modfather. On appearing Id say to the actor, Ere Ray, you realise if you keep playing roles like this youll end up a sad washed out class traitor knob reduced to advertising betting companies to help them relieve poor people of money they aint got?! Then Id offer his character Kevin even money that hes going to get the shit kicked out of him in the next 10 minutes. While hes digesting this Id turn to Jimmy and advise him to pick up the copies of A Quick One and Who Sell Out that are on the sideboard at the party in Kitchener Road he goes to, as theyd yet to be released for another 2 and 3 years respectively, and may be worth a few bob.......
