Watching local businesses close breaks my heart, regardless of the reason. Who do you know who isnt aware of the importance of supporting local? Making a choice to eat a mom and pop versus a franchise/chain...one who when needs a service, doesnt realize that they can make a bigger impact when spending with a mom and pop. Saying a mom and pop simply means it is locally owned and all ideas/concepts come from the local owners. They dont have someone else making decisions for them, they support our community more financially, also employ more people and so much more. Lets make a movement in Topeka to keep it colorful and eat, buy and support local. Share with those who might need a hint to help their community...or who isnt aware of what we could do. Oddfellows Fine Books and Collectables versus a Barnes and Noble The Classic Bean versus a starbucks Megan Rogers Photographie versus a JC Penneys NOTO Burrito versus a Chipolte A local groomer versus Petsmart College Hill Pizza Pub versus PizzaHut RowHouse Restaurant versus Olive Garden (sad comparing those...) Envy Salon versus Beauty Brands North Star Steakhouse versus LongHorn Spending money and making a choice truly impacts your community. Lets boost our local economy and businesses and make a choice to spend locally!!
