Watching the International Somali channel, Universal TV, and am - TopicsExpress

Watching the International Somali channel, Universal TV, and am struck by a duscussion on the excesses of AMISOM soilders in which a damning report by the Human Rights Watch. They are accused of rape and other violations of human rights. Now the part that really mesmerizes me is how passionate the panelists and callers are. Their emotion is palpable and they vehemently express thier outrage at the excesses of the AMISOM forces. Now, it is not inly amusing but it also worrying that Somalis feel so strongly about the crimes committed against them by those they percieve as “outsiders“while they express astronomical complacency at the crimes they commit against themselves. The case is the same with Kenyan Somalis who come out all in arms when the “adomey“ govt officials commit injzstices against Somalis. Its only during these rare instances that we find Somalis in solidarity with each other and watching each others back. When there usnt a percieved common enemy in the picture, they find enmity among themselves as us the case in Mandera North. The Simple solution to the intra Somali confkict is to have a parmanent common enemy who keeps us on our toes year in year out till the Somali bond becomes as strong as a diamond.
