Watching the news this morning and seeing the gathering of police officers coming from all over to stand watch and provide escort to Officer Nickolaus Schultz are on my mind during this fourth day of the Gratitude Challenge, I am grateful for: 1. those who choose this life, that of police, firemen, and first responders. They are the ones who put their lives at risk day in and day out to keep us safe. I have brothers and friends who have chosen this life, and I have so much respect for the work that they do. 2. I am grateful for the families of those who have chosen this life. They provide the support and encouragement for them to do the job, even though they know how dangerous it might be. 3. I appreciate the sense of community that these individuals have amongst each other, so that they can support each other and encourage each other in difficult times and in good times.
