Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink. Malawi is a - TopicsExpress

Water, water everywhere and not a drop to drink. Malawi is a rich and fertile land and there is plenty of water. In fact, there is a fresh water Lake (Lake Malawi) that runs almost the entire length of the country. The problem is getting that water to the people who need it.... where they live. Below you will see two men who just completed hand digging a well that measures 47 meters (150 ft). It is very hard work but the results are long lasting and life changing. The other picture is a well after it is finished and the mechanism for lifting the water is installed. The finished well you see provides water for 1500 women who use it every day. Providing fresh, safe water is part of the development work Barnabas does in Malawi. Lifting the living standard of the people from acute poverty to a life of self sufficiency and being their brothers’ keeper. The wells cost around $1300.00 to get up and running. We pay the men a wage for digging it and we pay for the materials to line the hole and for the mechanism and cement to finish the work... all for $1300.00 We have commitments for another well to go in and we are looking to provide a couple more. If you are interested in helping, perhaps you would consider Barnabas in your year-end giving. Every penny goes directly to the people of Malawi. You can give through barnabas.tv/donate. Your gifts are tax deductible.
