We Bike Across America 2014 - Day 70 Bridgton, ME - Bath, ME 65 MI. Total miles : 4,230 Miles to go: 115 A Bit More Relaxed, Not Flat, But Flat We were on the road early today as usual. The early starts are hard (especially for Tracy) but they give us more flexibility throughout the day. Our first break of the day was in Naples, a beautiful little lake town for coffee and scones. The latte was Peters second best on the trip and the whimsical palm trees and fisherman statue made it a lot of fun. Our second break was for a Coke and a Moon Pie at a private campground cafe on a lake - probably wont do the moon pie thing again while biking. After the moon pie we were forced to go another 35 miles to get to lunch. Normally, 35 miles wouldnt be a big deal but the back roads in this part of the country have some short, but killer hills. After the 35 miles our legs, and Peters hands from shifting and braking so much, were numb. We got to Brunswick just in time. About 5 miles outside of town our front tire started getting soft. The soft tire was making the climbs harder and the descents squirrely. As luck would have it, there was a bike shop in town so we added air to the tire with our hand pump and limped our way to the shop. There we had the mechanic replace both the tire (we had a spare) and the tube - it was worth the $10 at this point in the trip. We ate lunch in Brunswick and then headed to Bath for the night. On the way in, Peter could swear he smelled salt water! We had scallop poboys for dinner at a local tavern. We are getting closer!
