We advocate the Presbyterian polity for ecclesiastical structure because the hierarchy (Episcopal polity) in most churches are directly derived from the Roman Catholic Church. In the 21st Century church, there is a new trend out there as well that tries to imitate the Episcopal polity, the notion and concept of spiritual covering. Spiritual covering is definitely a misnomer because it has not foundational nor scriptural basis. I find nowhere in the scriptures that the apostles covered or were covered by anyone else. Many of the so-called spiritual coverings out there are of no substance because they rarely have any hands-on involvement with their coverees. It would be better to use the word mentor or coach instead of some mystical spiritual covering. The scriptures outline a council of apostles and elders advising autonomous congregations. This can be considered as the Presbyterian polity.
