We all praise the firefighters and refer to them as heroes. There is no doubt that they are heroes, tough and dedicated. We don’t think much about those who make it possible for the firefighters to get out there on the fire line at their best, looking and feeling good. Like those who control and provide supplies to the firefighters, the fire camp cooks and kitchen crew, those who maintain the shaving, showers and clothes washing facilities, the medical staff, those who pick up the camp trash, those who provide and maintain the portable toilets, etc, etc, etc. These folks may not be heroes in some peoples eyes, but at the very least they are fire camp VIP’s. I took these photos at the Etna “July Complex” fire camp.
