We all want God to hug us like a Father and tell us that He loves us…and He does that. But sometimes that happens differently than what weve been taught. Sometimes its not through a song or through some happy emotional experience during worship. Sometimes we need to surrender to Him and die, and thats how we draw near to Him: Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Be wretched and mourn and weep. Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will exalt you (James 4:8-10).
