We already know from the words of YHWH himself , from the Son, from the prophets, and from the Apostles that there is only One God, there is no one else, there is only one true God and that is the Father. We cannot and should not allow ourselves therefore to even think that there was even a time when THERE WERE TWO GODS....because that just cannot be, for it will contradict the very words of YHWH, the FATHER. And yes, we also already know that THE WORD made flesh is The Son and not YHWH. Now, having this full understanding and knowledge, we should therefore try and grasp the correct meaning of John 1:1 THE WORD WAS GOD . without allowing ourselves to be tempted to conclude that somehow there were two true GODS in the beginning....because that is still blasphemy against the only God YHWH, the Father.
