We are here by Pauls Valley and we ha a really good ride today. Last night we stayed with Pam and Billy by Stratford and they were amazing people and I cant thank them enough for what they did for us. Billy gave me the deal of a lifetime on a pair of boots. Shockingly enough you can really wear out a pair if Ariats between the Atlantic and McAlester OK! If youre ever in McAlester I suggest running by his store Steppin Out to get outfitted. Much like the journey back home from a combat theatre this ride has evolved. We have been grinding out the miles with the pack horses every day since the Atlantic and its has been incredibly tough and grueling. However like the return back home it does get easier and we have implemented a follow truck and trailer that allows us to just ride and not have to pack. We can move down the road quicker and save the horses some too. It has been a huge help and we can get out the gate really early and beat the heat and like today we can haul water and cool them off halfway through the day. This will be the norm for the rest of the ride. I feel very good about this decision especially entering the dry country in the west.
