Went to see Saxon last night at the O2 in Bristol. Best gig Ive been to in many years. Seriously, they were absolutely killer. This crazy business has only one mandate and that is SONGS and that band have them in spades! It was a joy to witness. For a band who are celebrating their 35th year, its remarkable how energetic and committed to performance they still are, every ounce of their energy goes into entertaining and it is genuine and seemingly effortless. Biffs voice was faultless and still as powerful as ever. He kicks the teeth out of most singers half his age. I dont think we will ever have bands like them again, its hard earned and well deserved continued success and young bands would do well to take a long hard look at what it really means to be a touring, pro band coz Its not a game, its built on an appreciation and love of the audience, coupled with passionate connection to the music and legacy. All of the guys in the band demonstrate this ethic. I salute them and urge you all to go and watch them if you get a chance, youll not see a better live band.
