We are humbled to announce that we have been awarded the $100,000.00 Newell and Elizabeth Eddy Grant from the Bay Area Community Foundation to implement our Outdoor Urban Recreation (O.U.R.) Bay City Project! No less than 100% of these funds will be spent on the projects themselves, and we are relying on community support for the resources to administer and implement the project. This exciting initiative will result in a network of access points for active connections with nature in Bay City. A new canoe/kayak launch and site improvements at the Bay City Rowing Center, a new Chippewa Nature Center pavilion at Discovery Preserve at Euclid Park for nature-based education, rehabilitation at Golson Nature Park, all joining our project with Michigan Sugar Company, ITC Holdings, and Rays Bike Shop-Bay City on the Middlegrounds...the Michigan Sugar Trails mountain bike park! We believe that connections with nature, and a lifelong culture of respect for nature, often comes through our enthusiasm for recreation...birders, mountain bikers, kayakers, hikers and skiiers are some of the most passionate advocates for conservation. We are so grateful for this incredible show of trust from the Foundation, and we look forward to doing our part to make this City and the Great Lakes Bay Region even more of a world-class place to live!
