We are in desperate need of a dedicated leader, so to say a genius leader, who can address the genuine problems, not the artificially created problems for the sake of fulfilling political ambitions, of all the people of Assam, irrespective of tribal or non-tribal. He can be a Brahma, Rabha, Pegu, Ali, Tanti, Terang, Gohain, Bhattacharya, Banerjee, etc. Are not Shobha Brahma, Bishnu Rabha, Taffajul Ali, Ganesh Pegu, Samir Tanti, Rongbong Terang, Hiren Gohain, Hiren Bhattacharya, Pulak Banerjee the genuine Assamese? If they are not, who are the real Assamese? There are exploiters in every community. In every community of Assam there are deprived people in all fronts. If the Bodos are neglected, or deprived for that matter, so are the flood-stricken people of Dhemaji, the tea garden people, the Ahoms in the backward villages, the Kalitas..., etc. We have right to demand anything, but there must be justification in it. There are DEPRIVED people IN EVERY COMMUNITY IN ASSAM. Let us try to empower them. When Mr P K Mahanta became the chief minister, the Assamese people, in the so-called sense of the term, were not empowered or benefited. Yes he was BENEFITED. So the division of Assam can never be the solution to emancipate or empower a particular community. Rather it will be suicidal out and out. Let us fight unitedly to put an end to the game of ambition, and empower the deprived class, irrespective of communities, with a sense of commitment. Let us develop scientific bent of mind and dream of a modern Assam.
