We are living in very strange times on this island and as a people we are sitting back and letting the cooperate right wing dictate to us how we live or life . Yes we have some great people who will get out and protest but where is the rest of the country ? it is the same people every time that are on the streets and I know myself they are getting sick of it . As a people we always fracture and split and go in different directions which can be seen very clearly now in the run up to the May elections . We all need to remember we have our differences but we have more common ground than we think and should not allow these fractures to ruin what people from the left of the political spectrum wish to achieve . Labour can no longer claim to represent the left in Irish politics not with the way they have behaved in government . The Leadership of the main trade unions have done nothing for the Irish worker and all look like bought people with their silence and inaction . We know that Fine Gael are following their own vision for Ireland or should we say Denis OBriens vision of Ireland . We have a police force that is more of a farce than a force and an ombudsman that can only write up a report and make suggestions so it isnt really an ombudsman at all ,a bit like going hunting with a rifle and no bullets . We have all seen the carry on with Shatter and Kenny as well as the rest of the cabinet this last 2weeks and as a country we must be the laughing stock of Europe . Even our health minister Dr J Reilly has more of an obsession with getting the country smoke free by 2025 but is completely blind to the state of the health service where people are left lying on trolleys for days on end . I started writing this thinking I could cover everything but it isnt possible as there is so much to be said so I will leave it with your good selves to comment and continue this for me . Hope my rant hasnt bored you rigid and look forward to hearing your views .
