We are looking for candidates for a PhD position at IT University of Copenhagen . Deadline is 23. April. https://delta.hr-manager.net/ApplicationInit.aspx?cid=119&ProjectId=168671&departmentId=3439&uiculture=en&MediaId=1282 Participatory Design Methods Across Cultures The IxD group invites applications for two PhD scholarships in Participatory Design methods across cultures. The PhD candidates will be part of a larger, international project initiated and managed by ITU. The project will explore how cultural diversity may enrich Participatory Design (PD) methods and support the dissemination of PD-inspired methods outside ‘conventional’ PD-contexts to support user-driven and democratic design approaches. The project will involve three diverse organizations in three different countries (Japan, Italy and South Africa) with their own unique national and organizational cultures. The accepted PhD candidates are expected to work in, and contribute to the day-to-day project activities. The candidates are expected to develop the field, and an understanding of co-design and Participatory Design methods including e.g. the notion of citizenship, materiality, and participation across cultural and language boundaries and design. The candidates must be prepared to travel and to spend periods outside Denmark. Further, they are expected to be open-minded, creative and resourceful. Due to the nature of the project, the candidates should be able to work independently, but still with a strong team-spirit. Previous experience of working with design and Participatory Design methods, concept development, prototyping and sketching, research, and working in diverse cultural contexts is a merit. The available positions depend on a pending funding application.
