We are making $500 donation to a local Congolese woman today. She is young woman and a very recent immigrant to Canada who speaks little english. Her husband recently passed away in a tragic car accident leaving her alone with three very young children. The remainder of the proceeds from the benefit concert, a little over $1700, is being mailed to Doctors without Borders today :) Here is the letter we will be giving her along with her donation. June 13, 2013 We are so sorry to hear of your loss. We were recently informed of the passing of your husband which is why we wanted to make a donation to you and your family. This year my school project was planning a benefit concert to raise money for Doctors without Borders who has hospitals set up in the Congo. When my teacher informed us of your situation, we felt we should donate some of the proceeds to you. We hope this will help you and your family for a little while.
