We are not done fighting the Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act (AETA). Two activists were recently indicted for “terrorism” under this law for allegedly rescuing mink and foxes from a fur farm. And the AETA reaches beyond this type of activity to punish speech protected by the First Amendment. Animal rights activists all over the country have limited their activism out of fear that they could be prosecuted as terrorists. This dangerous law is taking the boycotts, civil disobedience, and peaceful protests that we celebrate from numerous social movements throughout our history and turning them into terrorist offenses.
