We are pleased to report that Perlage Systems has prevailed over Voss of Norway, a major bottled water producer, in a contentious trademark dispute. Voss sued Perlage Systems in 2013 over the Perlini Cocktail Carbonation System. Voss claimed that the roughly cylindrical Perlini cocktail shaker violated their trademarks on the cylindrical bottle that their water is packaged in. (See attached press release for more details.) From the beginning, the suit had no merit; and in the end, the result was 100% in our favor. Nevertheless, it has been a distracting and expensive episode for us, spanning two years and costing many tens of thousands of dollars. This money would have gone a long way toward product development or customer service--or bought a ton of Pappy Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye. Literally. Voss has made a habit of harassing small beverage-related companies, including craft distilleries and wineries. The results of this suit will send a strong message that innovation and creativity in the craft cocktail and spirits world will not be stifled by off-shore bullies. Now that this is over, we are eager to get back to work to doing what we do best: designing and manufacturing innovative, cool products for the Champagne and craft cocktail industries, and having fun doing it, shoulder to shoulder with our customers, partners, and friends in the industry.
