We are rapidly becoming a country of paranoid Chicken Littles. - TopicsExpress

We are rapidly becoming a country of paranoid Chicken Littles. First it was the Islamic terrorist threat which was overblown and propagandized to justify invading a country that had absolutely nothing to do with the 9/11 attack. That misguided adventure has cost the lives of about 3000 young Americans, maimed another 30,000 and killed 100,000+ thousand innocent Iraqis. It will end up costing the country 6-7 trillion dollars and has taken the lid off of Pandoras Box of ethnic hatred and violence which has led to the next generation of crazies called ISIS. The reality is this. This turmoil in the Middle East poses little if any threat to the internal security of the United States. Syria has an ongoing civil war and Iraq has a 225.000 man army which weve spent hundreds of millions of dollars equipping and training. If theyre not willing to fight and defend their country, then so be it. We shouldnt do it for them. So all the talking heads and politicians who are urging more military action are dumb asses who apparently havent learned anything from our previous Middle Eastern boondoggles. Its time to let these folks settle their own problems. Now we have the 24/7 Ebola hysteria. Is Ebola a problem? Sure, in Africa. And we need to be proactive in keeping it there. But the hysteria about its spread in the U.S. is sheer non sense. Last year, 57,000 people died from the flue and more than half the population wont bother to get a flue shot. We are becoming a strange people who panic at largely non existent threats while totally ignoring fundamental issues that are rapidly degrading the health, environment and long range security of the country.
