We are starting, Counsellor! This takes care of the decisions in life. Pages 38-42 Be prepared to be washed in the word with this one! =D Below is a ruff draft of the video with all of the verses I used! Hi friends! I apologize for taking a while to post this next video. As some of you know and have been praying for me, I was preparing for another event that came up. Im ready, now, to dive in this new Chapter, Counselor! First we will look over the importance of counsel in our lives. - Proverbs 21:2 Every mans way is right in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the hearts. - Jeremiah 10 23 The way of man is not in himself. also a different version says, Lord, I know that peoples lives are not their own; it is not up to them to direct their steps. - 1 Cor. 6:19-20, Do you not know that your body is the temple of the holy spirit who lives you, whom youve received as a gift from God? You are not your own, you were bought with a price. So then, honor God with your body if we are no longer own ourselves then we belong to someone a lord a master, thus we need to know what he desires- we need his counsel. - 2 Timothy 2:4, No one serving as a solder gets entangled in civilian affairs but rather tries to please his commanding officer And how can we please our commanding officer if we do not get counsel from Him? - Proverbs 23:7 For as a man thinks in his heart, so is he. - (After conversion)Rom 12 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed (How?) by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is(which to know His will is very important). - John 6:69 Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of life! He made life. He made us. Our mind and heart are no where near the intelligence, knowledge and wisdom of God all mighty the creator of Heaven and earth. We would be a fool to think we are fine without His counsel... - Jeremiah 17:9 the heart is deceitful above all things and desperately wicked: who can understand it? We desperately need counsel a mans heart is basically sinful and selfish, and his motives are mixed. To the Christian the Lord...Ps. 32:8 The Lord said, I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you. The giving of counsel to his children is one of Gods most gracious works. His says, If any of you lacks wisdom let him ask of God that gives it to all men freely when man asks in faith. Now just to cover all sides-some might think they want a complete book that gives them rules to obey and laws to follow- but God does not counsel us in that way - if he did we would remain immature children with little faith (and without faith it is impossible to please God) and never grow to be more like Christ (I thought of a math example- all you who do math you can relate with me on this- sometimes you do the math problem and get it right but you dont know how it happened and you wouldnt be able to teach anyone else---and you just dont know why you did what you did----But once you knew the why and had the mind of the teacher then math clicked - same with this- page 42 (although he does give us the Bible which if studied in context will give you everything you need to live holy according to Gods will.) If God did just give us r Self-examaning question: Where do I go to when Im stressed, sad, overwhelmed, or unsure to receive counsel? Where people turn for help is some indication of their character and faith. The bible says, come unto me all who are weary and burden. Come rest in me and I will counsel you into all truth. Everyone is getting counseled weather we know it or not. We might get our counsel from whatever is popular at the time/ the culture. We might go to the internet or google. We might go to a friend for their opinion and sometimes we even stop at our our self-counsel. Ps. 1 says, Blessed is the man who does Not walk in the counsel of the wicked. You might think, Where I go to might not be godly but its not wicked. Psalms 10:4 says, In his pride the wicked man does not seek him; in all his thoughts there is no room for God. So if I do not seek God and if I do not meditate on Him/think about Him, then I am the same as a prideful wicked man. 2 Tim. 2:16 says, Avoid godless chatter because those who indulge in it will become more and more ungodly. It didnt say, avoid bad, or wicked chatter it said to avoid even the ungodly chatter. Thats strong right there. Now I dont think the verse is saying that we have to be talking about sermons all the time or speak using only Bible verses, however it might be similar to 1 Thess. 5:17; pray without ceasing. In Ellicotts commentary he says, Though a man cannot be incessantly praying in words, the mind may be held continuously in an attitude of prayer, even in sleep (Song of Solomon 5:2). And Pulpit explains, Prayer may be without ceasing in the heart which is full of the presence of God, and evermore communing with him.
