We are the Lords - Romans 14:8 FOR WHETHER WE LIVE, WE LIVE UNTO THE LORD. We are His people, and the sheep of His pasture. The Lord has a people peculiarly His own, distinct from all others. They are preferred above all others, being the objects of His choice, the purchase of His blood, the temple of His Holy Spirit. He loves them with an everlasting love. He calls them His portion, His children. He prizes them as His peculiar treasure. He is united to them, loves them, and cares for them as His bride. He keeps them as the apple of His eye. This privilege Paul claimed for himself and all fellow believers; if we are Christians we can claim it too. We are the Lords, and we know it, for we have been quickened by His Holy Spirit, received and acknowledged at His holy throne, and consecrated to His service. We are the Lords, and here we prove it: for we are united to His family, walking by His precepts, living to His glory, and satisfied only with His presence and love. Beloved, let us cleave to His saints, excellent in all the earth. In time of difficulty and danger, call thus to Him: I am the Lords. I am Thine, O Lord - I have heard Thy voice, And it told Thy love to me; But I long to rise in the arms of faith And be closer drawn to Thee.
