We are very excited to announce the 2015 Breast Cancer Awareness coin and pin, the fifth year we have minted the coins and pins to raise funds for my 3-Day walks. We have provided the artwork to the mint for final costing, with the intent of holding costs to last years or less. Oaktree Coins has been the best, as they understand what the funds are being used for and want to support the cause as much as they can through cost reductions. This year’s coin has three ribbons on the front side, along with the dedication to my mom, who lost her battle to breast cancer nearly eleven years ago. In addition, we have included the phrase that I believe is in all our hearts, “We will never give up.” The three ribbons provide a change to the front from prior years and also represent our goal to raise $60,000 over the next three years as a dedication to completing ten years of 3-Day walks, which occurs in 2017. On the reverse, is a representation of the flags that the survivors carry in the Opening and Closing ceremonies, with the white memorial flag in the center. The white memorial flag, for those not familiar with it, contains dedications and names of those lost to breast cancer, as written by walkers, crew and staff prior to the Opening Ceremony, then raised during the Opening Ceremony. It is later placed in the Remembrance Tent at camp for others to add to or to read. Although there are actually eight survivor flags, they are represented by the four shown, with the specific words placed around the edge. Finally, the Remembrance Tent is represented across the middle of the coin. Before we can place the order with the mint, we first need your support. These are first class coins as prior donors will attest to which requires a significant investment up front for the minting. As with prior years, we are asking for your support through pre-order commitments for the coins and pins. Once I receive the minimum amount required to make this fundraiser a success (75 coins), I will place the actual order. As before, as a donor, you will owe me no money prior to the coins and pins being shipped from the mint. I only ask that if you place a pre-order, that you honor the order by making your donation when they arrive. The coins are 1.75” across and come with either a gold or silver finish. The finish is the outside edge of the coins and pins and any writing on their surface. The pin, as the artist rendering shows, has less of the text as it would simply be too small to read. The pins are 1” across and are great for lapels, hats, lanyards and other like usage. The coins are geocoins, including a unique tracking number, which makes them a great addition for geocachers. To pre-order, please let me know you would like to make a donation in the following amounts: $25/coin; $10/pin or $30/set (Assumes no surprises from the mint). You can mix and match the colors as you wish (e.g., 1 gold coin; 2 silver pins).
