BWW: Breaking into Freelance Journalism is a two-day workshop which will help participants to understand the business of freelance journalism from start to finish. And be assured it is a business! The course will be facilitated by Kavitha Rao, who is a Bangalore based freelance journalist, author and columnist whose work has appeared in both international and national publications including the Guardian, the New York Times, Time, Quartz, the National, Elle, Vogue, Caravan and others. She is also the co-author of “Everything You Wanted to Know About Freelance Journalism”, a practical guide to breaking into freelance journalism, which was published by Westland. The book contains tips and tricks from over 50 editors and journalists, including those from the Guardian, the New York Times, Conde Nast Traveller, National Geographic, Forbes, Elle and many others. Kavitha has taught this workshop at the Kala Ghoda festival, Indian Institute of Journalism and New Media, the Times School of Journalism and several other institutes.
