We arrived yesterday after a 6 hour train trip from Saltzburg. The guys bought first class tickets. They werent really much dearer than economy. The first part of the trip was fine till we had to do a changeover about an hour into the trip. The train was yukky. You could really tell you were going from Austria into Czechoslovakia....apart from the train it seemed everything turned dirty. Then we were informed, due to problems with the track, we would have to get off and catch a bus, which would be waiting, for 17 kilometres, then board another train. Well there was no platform, we had to lug our suitcases over tracks, the bus was so old, no luggage compartment so we had to take our large heavy suitcases on with us, the driver just sat in his seat and watched as we heaved everything on board. Thank god we were on the bus that was only three quarters full. Even then norm had to stand to watch the cases. Back on another very ordinary train. Once again no food or drinks have been had on this 6 hour trip as none were available! Then the next minute a bloke walks past us pushing a daggy trolley containing an esky with warm beer or warm some sort of soft drink and bags of garlic chips. Yes garlic chips. OMG they were disgusting. It was like they had deep fried slices of garlic they were so strong. Even though we were so hungry we couldnt eat them. Eventually arrive in Prague and its lovely. Not as good as Saltzburg.
