We as Christians often perceive people as being things that theyre not . Just because someones relationship with Christ isnt like yours doesnt mean they dont know God , it means they just connect with him in a different way . For example two of my favorite rappers Kendrick Lamar and J Cole constantly talk about their journeys in life and how they got famous , the devil tried to get a hold of them and they found Christ on their own . Kendricks story is remarkable because he comes from Compton Los Angeles California . Which is one of the most dangerous cities in the country and where a lot of your favorite hood drama films come from ( Boyz in the hood , Menace II Society , Blame it on the streets and etc ) he grew up around a gang environment , being that he grew up with two parents , both were involved in gang activity back in Chicago years prior . Kendrick realized at an early age that the lifestyle he was accustomed to , wasnt the right path to take . So he and his friends found Christ as teenagers and in his last album Good Kid Madd City , there are constant clips of him and his friends accepting Christ , before a certain song starts . And in those songs he raps about his encounters living in Compton. Although you may hear cursing and all that through the songs , thats just so they can connect to kids who cant get that role model at home . Kendrick doesnt drink , nor smoke . And carries a bible on tour with him . So today keep this in your mind , dont judge , but encourage others. and if you can , invite a friend to church with you or just simply tell them what God has done for you . Save a life .
