We at FitzRays are about to embark on a new musical journey over the We at FitzRays are about to embark on a new musical journey over the next four months to decide what band will take home a $1000 prize. Every band will be play the regular 10pm till 2am sets. At the end of each month, the top 4 bands will be given Preferred-booking status for all future gigs. The bottom 2 bands will not be invited back. Of that, the remaining bands will receive bookings for future gigs once all the Preferred bands are booked. From May to Aug we will be doing this contest again, and the eliminated bands will have made room for new opportunities for other bands in the yearly schedule. As well, in this May to August window, bands will also be playing 9pm to 1am sets in a test to compare Patron attendance to the present standard set times of 10 to 2am shows. This new time format (9-1am) will not only favour bands with regards to enticing people to come to their shows and staying later (thus improving the Bands sales for the night and increasing their “drawing power”) – but it will also cater to patrons in the demographic majority that attend Live music. If the response is favourable to these new times (9-1am) by increasing public attendance at shows at Fitzrays – then serious consideration would be given to that format continuing. The Bar Industry as a whole has to adapt to what its customers want, and those that support Live Music have shown in Social Media and word of mouth, that this is something they wish for these days. As with all things tried, the final verdict will be the support of the Public coming behind this initiative and patrons having an opportunity to show their perceived desire for early start and end times. For bands it will provide a chance for more people to attend your shows and gain a larger more loyal fan base, consequently increasing your awareness to the Live Music patronage, and overall the bands that put forth an effort to make their shows an entertaining success will be rewarded with a spot in a highly competitive rotation. For everyone concerned, this is your chance to possibly change the landscape of Live Music in London for the better. To make “date night” more enjoyable with dinner and Live Music like it used to be, witness the very best bands live, and still be home at a decent hour.next four months to decide what band will take home a $1000 prize.
