We can probably all agree that there is no state of perfection which can be reached in art. But that actually feels very troubling, and not a relief like it might seem. If theres no such thing as perfection, then that means that it can literally always be better. Perfection would be a convenient ceiling, get to perfection and you accomplished your goal. But there is no ceiling, no upper limit to just how good a piece of art can be. This is a horrifying concept to me, because it means there is also no such thing as good enough.
