We cannot reason by anecdote. We cannot reason by photo op. We cannot back away from numbers because they tell us things we dont want to hear. 3k dead in the worst terrorist attack in US history; 30k dead per year in a civl war of self-inflicted gun fatalities. 3k dead from 911; 20,000 dead per year from lack of health care. 30k dead on the highways--but we cut that number in half over the years by regulating safer, more expensive cars and roads...then why dont we.... Military spending? Over half the budget. Foreign aid? One percent. We spend 50 times more killing foreigners than helping them. I wonder why they dislike us? Money spent on prisons exceeding money spent on education. We seem incapable, as a supposedly intelligent species, of allocating resources intelligently. As a species, we are standing drunkenly outside the convenience store, buying scratch tickets before we buy more cigarettes, beer, and ammo.
