We choose what we believe to be true or real based on our beliefs and perception. If something goes against or doesnt make sense to your beliefs and perception, you ignore it, not giving it attention and educating yourself on something outside of your world. Example, I met a Christian last week and we had a civil conversation. I tried not to bring up anything I knew would offen him like Aliens, marijuana and indulgence over abstinence but we were on the subject. He listened to what I had to say and I listened to him, but even though I shared my knowledge with him which to me makes scientific and realistic sense he still stayed true to his beliefs and not once consider that maybe Aliens are real, that marijuana is more than what the media and society perceives it to be and that its okay to indulge instead battling with your emotions and thoughts and living a life of abstinence.
