We either get stuck in the self-righteousness gutter thinking we dont need Jesus that much or the wretched-beyond-repair gutter where we look at how sinful we are but dont run to Jesus. Jesus calls us to follow Him down the straight and narrow, which is following Him! He is the one who came to die for our sins, and He is the one who helps us to change and to walk in Holiness. The wretched man never gets to Romans 8 because hes stuck in Romans 7, but the answer is Jesus! The self-righteous man is blind to his pride and doesnt see the sin in his own heart. Following Jesus is the only answer to freedom and wholeness and Joy and salvation. Friend, Jesus loves you, dont get stuck in the gutter, He gives us a hand. Jesus is The Way, The Truth, and The Life. Come to Him for life. Repent of your sins and self righteousness and turn to Him because He loves you. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. This has now been witnessed to at the proper time. (1 Timothy 2:3-6 NIV) But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (2 Peter 3:8-9 NIV)
