We first told you about Scott last year! When Scott first started - TopicsExpress

We first told you about Scott last year! When Scott first started working with Community Involvement Programs, he never thought he’d own his own business. Four years later, he’s creating and selling his own ice cream. In fact, you may have already sampled one of this 23 year-old’s tasty creations! After graduating from his school’s transition program, Josh Dean, CIP Supported Employment Manager, identified a cool new opportunity for Scott. Josh was able to hook Scott up with a loan for a piece of equipment that would help him gain more employment. The equipment that Scott and Josh landed on? An ice cream machine, of course! Thanks to his new machine, Scott’s is able to work 30 to 40 hours a week making his sweet treats for Gigi’s Café, where his ice cream is branded and sold under his name! As Josh says: “This whole project is just a different way and perspective of doing business and employing people with disabilities. For Scott, this is truly a life changing opportunity for him. Not many people in Scott’s position have fair-wage employment as an option, let alone owning their own ice cream machine, being employed to make ice cream and to have a product branded after him.” Do you think Scott’s story is sweet?
