We flew out of the new airport in Bali this morning. Well what can I say. I hope it gets better. We got there 3 hrs prior to departure and lets just say this time was needed. You get to the Airport line up and have to put everything thru scanners. You then line up a check in for over 1 hr. At one stage at check in there was one lady at the counter 2 finger typing to get a whole plane load thru. We then had to walk over and line up again to do your departure tax. You then line up again to make sure that you have a departure tax ticket. You the line up at immigration. After their you line up again Behind scanners to have everything scanned again. Yay we inside. But theres more. You get told where your departure gate is only close to departure. Our plane staff were walking up and down because not even them new what gate they were leaving from. You then line up again only to get your bags searched again. Only then if your lucky you get to use that gate. The last load of people checked before us had to move gates to the other end of the airport. Yes a whole plane load. Then you line up to board the plane to actually walk down the run, down some stairs onto a bus which then takes you back to the old terminal where the plane is waiting. The flight was nice and we made good time but what a root around. They rushed the airport opening for the APEC summit. You can see where they had to rush. The new carpets had paint on them all around the edges and the windows had large areas of paint droplets on them. Around one section of gates there is no seating and you just have everyone lying on the floor. Im sure they will fix all the issues soon. Thats the Bali way. Hopefully just teething problems. Coming in was great , but departure at the moment is a nightmare. So leave heaps of time for departure at the moment. Had the best time over there with friends and family.
