We fondly recall the late great American stage, television and film actor Ray Walston who was born this day December 2, 1914 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Mr. Walston died on New Years Day 2001 in Beverly Hills, California after a 6-year battle with lupus at the age of 86. Mr. Walston played many roles in his career but is probably best known as the title character on the 1960s CBS television sitcom My Favorite Martian. His other roles included on Broadway characters Luther Billis in South Pacific (also in the 1958 film), Mr. Applegate in Damn Yankees (also in the 1958 film). In films as J.J. Singleton in The Sting, HS teacher Mr. Hand in Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
