We grew up being taught to never judge a book by its cover. But do - TopicsExpress

We grew up being taught to never judge a book by its cover. But do we actually live by these words? A documentary about Cafe Lu, a famous Vietnamese coffee shop in SoCal known for their scantily clad waitresses, was recently released. When we think of the women who work there or places like Hooters, or gogo dancers, import models or strippers for that matter, we tend to have a negative reaction toward them. People would say: Theyre sluts! They come from broken homes. They have no goals in life. To be honest, I cannot help but to have some of these preconceived notions myself. After I watched this documentary, I realized that, as much as I convinced myself that Im open-minded and not prejudgemental, I cannot help but to be that way at times. The documentary reminds us that theres more to ones story and that we need to take the time to get to know someone before we pass judgement on them.
