We had Rhians Thanks-birth-mas (a combo of Thanksgiving, his birthday and Christmas) yesterday... and he brought us some SUPER awesome presents from all over Europe. For me, he brought a hand knit hat and ornament from Holland, some delicious tea and a bottle of wine from France! He also treated us all to some Christmas Wine called Glühwein from Germany last night - and it was so delicious! We also played our annual Plath-family football game... it ended in a tie... The Winter Solstice is today at 4:03PM, which is when the sun will be the farthest north it gets during the year. Today is the shortest day of the year for us in the N. Hemisphere... and also marks the official start of astronomical Winter. It is very wintery in the mountains already as snow continues to fall. The snow will stay in the mountains for the most part, before sliding eastward tomorrow. While the lower elevations wont get much in the way of accumulations, we will likely still get enough to cause some slippery conditions tomorrow evening for the drive home and Tuesday morning could also be a bit dicey. Tomorrow afternoon, temperatures will be dropping and the wind will pick up... so make sure youre ready for that with gloves/jackets/layers for the 2nd half of the day. Jason Laird will have the latest snow totals/timing tonight at 5, 6 and 10... Ill see you tomorrow beginning at 4. Have a great rest of your Sunday everyone!
