We had a family come today from the hospital on the other side of the mountain. Last week their oldest (#1)of four children died from measles. The uncle brought #3 child back and forth for injections (about 4 hours each way) he was seizing and had measles too. They could not stay here because of the haus kri (funeral) for #1 child. Yesterday, I learned the 3 remaining children were admitted as inpatients, and the youngest (#4) had died. This morning, I noticed everyone at clinic was watching the road, and when I turned, a small body was wrapped up on a pole two men were carrying, away from that hospital and toward their village. I cried when I learned that it was #3 child, who was doing better the last time I saw him. The whole family left that hospital today, and #2 child is extremely ill! They just absconded, left all the childs paperwork and took the IV out themselves. She is here now. Auntie is with her, because mom and dad are grieving the other two deaths. She is in an extremely fragile condition. Can you please pray with me that God would be pleased to save her life? This just breaks my heart. Three children in one family dead from measles. And one in the balance.
